Managing your pet’s care will be our Doctors...
Sarah Meixell, DVM
Dr Sarah Meixell graduated from Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine and has been here at Veterinary Care of Ithaca (in its various forms) since 1985. She loves clients, patients, medicine, in short everything she does here.
"Pets play such an important role in our lives. When we improve an animal’s life, we enrich the owner’s life as well. I can’t think of anything I’d rather spend my days doing."

Elizabeth Barnes, DVM
Dr. Barnes brings a fresh and energetic approach to our team of doctors as a graduate of The University of Illinois. In addition to the work she does with our patients at Veterinary Care of Ithaca, her own pets Forrest, Brownie and Crumb keep her and her husband busy. On the rare occasion she finds herself with some downtime, she also enjoys cycling, hiking and a good book.
"I love providing quality care for the wonderful pets of our amazing clients."

Patty Pate, DVM
Dr. Patty Pate graduated from Mississippi State’s College of Veterinary Medicine and went on to do a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Texas A & M Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital. She grew up in the South but enjoys living and raising her two sons in Ithaca. She has 3 cats; Toonces, Spotty and Billy, as well as a 17 year old Pekingese named Basil.

Darin Holmes, DVM
Dr. Holmes is a graduate of the Royal Veterinary College in London, England where he was a member of the College of Veterinary Surgeons. He joined Veterinary Care of Ithaca with a breadth of experience in both large and small animal practices in Scotland as well as Oregon, Massachusetts and Washington. He spends most of his free time with his young son, exploring the beauty of Ithaca and enjoying outdoor activities.
“VCI has a great team of dedicated people who are great fun to work with. We are also very fortunate to have wonderful clients and pets who really make our work rewarding.”

Veterinary Care of Ithaca’s backbone is our support staff...
Jamie Small, Medical Services Manager
Jamie has been with us since we were Ithaca Small Animal Hospital. She loves the variety of work and gives a hundred percent of herself to every animal and person she meets. Jamie and her husband have five beautiful children and a menagerie of animals including one cat, three dogs, and a pot-bellied pig named, no kidding, Bacon.
"I love the staff, clients, and animals I work with at Veterinary Care of Ithaca."

Michelle Harding, LVT
Michelle is an alumni of Alfred State and Cornell. She loves surgery, radiology, dentistry and is always ready to nurture a patient in need. Michelle and her husband Joe have two cats, Opal and Coral. Michelle is also one of our Behavior Services Technicians.

Tricia Hayes , Technician
Tricia comes to us with a background in Business Management and Logistics and a life long dream of working with animals. She’s passionate about animal behavior and all the facets of veterinary medicine as she embarks on her career as one of our technicians. Tricia is also one of our Behavior Services Technicians. Originally from New Jersey, she and her husband recently relocated to Ithaca. They are exploring all Ithaca has to offer, and love spending quality time by the pool with their two dogs Fritz and Otto.
"Everyone at Veterinary Care of Ithaca works together as a true team. They have such compassion for their patients."

Carrie Diamond, LVT
Carrie graduated from Alfred State in 2008 and soon after joined us at Veterinary Care of Ithaca. She loves working with animals, is passionate about her career, and can’t wait to face new challenges. Carrie wants to fill her hew house with, as she puts it, “as many pets as she can get away with.”
"Helping peoples’ pets is my way of making the world a better place."

Jen Biasillo, LVT, CCRP
A third year veterinary student at Cornell, Jen is also a Licensed Veterinary Technician and Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner who works in our Lab. Her knowledge as a technician and her positive “can-do” attitude make her a great addition to our team. When she’s at home, she keeps busy cooking, reading, hiking with her dogs Stella, Molly, and Archie, playing with her new kitten Franklin, and tending to her three chickens.
"I love working for Veterinary Care of Ithaca because the entire staff is truly dedicated to the best patient care possible."

Krista Stone, LVT
Krista started at Veterinary Care of Ithaca in December 2009 as a licensed veterinary technician. In her free time, she and her husband enjoy hiking; drawing and painting and have just adopted a shih tzu. She loves the family atmosphere and laughter at VCI.
"I love being able to help animals. The appreciation from their 'mom' & 'dad' is very genuine."
